Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy. Her academic interests lie between jurisprudence, legal theories, and the intersectionality of law and philosophy. She currently works at BC Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA) as a Donor Relations Coordinator.
Before joining BCCLA, Amy worked at PIVOT as an urban researcher that focused on finding data on urban planning and youth engagement in civic education. As an immigrant settler from South Korea, a country with a history of colonialism, she is passionate about contributing towards a future of decolonization and anti-capitalism.
She is a firm supporter of environmental ethics, and she is thankful to the Peoples of Kwikwetlem, Kwantlen, səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsleil-Waututh), S’ólh Téméxw (Stó:lō), Qayqayt , Stz’uminus, šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmaɁɬ təməxʷ (Musqueam), Hul’qumi’num Treaty Group, and Coast Salish for allowing residency as an uninvited guest.
The Province of British Columbia responded, but it has yet to start a conversation around the implications.
Upon addressing some legal and constitutional implications, the policy brief recommends that Permanent Residents receive municipal voting eligibility by amending section 65 (1)(b) of the Local Government Act of BC to include “.. or a permanent resident.”
