Applications for 2027 are now closed

We’re one step closer to welcoming the next group of young leaders into the LEVEL Youth Policy Program. Applications are now closed. Thank you to everyone who applied, spread the word, or took the time to get to know our program and community.

If you applied, here’s what happens next:

Over the next few weeks, our program team and Community Advisory Committee (CAC) will settle in with plenty of coffee and carefully review each application. The CAC is made up of community experts, those who work extensively with youth, as well as young people themselves — including a few past participants.

Important dates

  • November 23: We will contact all shortlisted applicants
  • November 24-26: We will interview shortlisted applicants
  • December/January: We will notify successful applicants

We’re building a cohort with a diversity of experiences and backgrounds. Some participants may already have some policy experiences. Others may have never studied it before (or attended post-secondary education at all). But what each of them will have is that changemaker spirit; a desire to make things better.

They’re the people who notice when a system isn’t working, or when a decision has a knock-on effect or when a group has been left out of a decision that affects them. They think, “There must be a better way.” Our hope is that at the LEVEL Youth Policy Program, they’ll learn the tools to create change so that things are done the better way.

The 2027 cohort will be made up of youth ages 19 to 29 years old, who are Indigenous, racialized immigrants, or racialized refugees living in B.C. Some will live in Metro Vancouver, while others will join from rural and remote communities.

Over the course of the program, participants will build their understanding of how public policy works, learn alongside mentors and peers, and develop their own ideas for change. And by the end of next year, 15 or so youth will take what they’ve learned back into their communities, their next job, and wherever their path takes them next. They’ll join the 62 who have already completed LEVEL Youth Policy Program, and have gone on to become organizers, government staffers, scholars, and so much more.

See you in the new year!
