Born in Taiwan, Jimmy moved to Canada more than 20 years ago at around eight years old. As a resident of Richmond, BC, which is situated on the unceded traditional territory of the Musqueam First Nation, Jimmy is an avid volunteer in the community during his spare time. Some of his past volunteer activities include immigration and settlement of newcomers and refugees as well as community arts programs.
Jimmy has an appreciation for philosophy as a path towards problem-solving and self-reflection. One of his personal principles is to think of perfection as stagnation – to embrace being imperfect in an ever-changing world. Thus, as someone who doesn’t have all the answers or solutions, Jimmy believes in the important value of listening and asking questions as a process to achieving mutual understanding as we work towards building solutions.
