Trisha is a 1.5 generation non-binary immigrant settler from the Philippines. Having spent 13 years on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil Waututh nations, they have come to learn what it means to be in allyship with these lands while bridging their connections to their own identity, culture and diaspora. Their focus has shaped itself to be rooted in the intersections of gender and queerness, their Filipino culture and traditions, and environmental justice. In their time learning, they have participated in many programs that have developed their beliefs and journey into what it is today. They were a part of the Level YPP 2020 cohort and then became an alumni facilitator in 2022. Now, Trisha’s main direction is in outdoor education where they search for ways learning and formal education can be decolonial, interest-based and community-based for children and youth aged 18 and below and how to center the land, sea and air as our best teachers regardless of age and experience.
